Michael Quinn Doherty is a seasoned pharmaceutical innovator, formulation strategist, and R&D leader with more than 20 years of experience helping organizations navigate the complexity of drug development, regulatory compliance, and product innovation.
As a Fractional Chief Product Development & Pharmaceutical R&D Officer, Michael partners with startups, scale-ups, and global organizations—spanning biopharma, consumer health, SaaS for science, and manufacturing—to design development strategies, advance novel formulations, and deliver regulatory-ready solutions.
Michael’s career includes:
- Founding Pharmosaic Consulting™, a pharmaceutical development firm supporting early- to mid-stage companies with formulation and CMC services
- Leading U.S. formulation and process development labs at MedPharm-US, where he scaled operations, built teams, and oversaw CMC strategy through preclinical and clinical milestones
- Driving development of two marketed therapies:
- VTAMA cream (1% Tapinarof) for plaque psoriasis and atopic dermatitis
- ZELSUZMI gel (10.3% Berdazimer) for molluscum contagiosum
- Serving as senior leadership at Lindy Biosciences, advancing their high-concentration biologics platform (Microglassification™) and enabling >500 mg/mL suspensions
Known for blending scientific rigor with strategic foresight, Michael excels at turning complex science into market-ready, patient-centered solutions. Whether building labs, designing regulatory roadmaps, or leading technology transfers, he ensures innovation is backed by compliance, efficiency, and measurable business impact.
At The Proper Group, Michael leads fractional R&D engagements, supports CMC and regulatory strategy, and contributes to the firm’s intellectual property in Quality by Design, Lean Six Sigma, and Science-as-a-Service (SaaS)—helping organizations build the systems, processes, and culture that bring therapies to patients faster and smarter.
Michael lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina, and serves clients nationally and globally. Outside of work, he’s passionate about hammock camping, seeing live music, watching romcoms & horror movies, and spending time with his family (dogs included) and friends.
